Vintage VTG GEORGE F COUTURE Blue One-shoulder Grecian Pleated Formal Gown XS-S

Description: Classic one-shoulder vintage gown from George F Couture. Pleated allover in Fortuny-like (or Madame Gres? Miyake?) pleats. Pleats are on an angle on the fitted bodice, then straight down on the skirt. Side zip with metal zipper. 15 1/2" slit on the left side for ease of walking. The skirt falls straight down, but because the pleats can expand, I show the fuller skirt effect on the back view on the floor. This is not a confining straight skirt. The dress is lined in the bodice, but unlined in the skirt. Also: it looks as if the dress was hemmed -- the original 3" "lettuce edge" hemming is evident (please see photo.) This is how I bought the dress - you MAY be able to CAREFULLY take out the stitches in the hem, but I leave that decision to the buyer. The color is a medium, royal blue. Please allow for any color display differences on different monitors. I try to describe the color as accurately as I can, but such are my photography skills. To note: my mannequin has very wide shoulders, small hips, and a short waist, and doesn't do the dress justice. Condition: excellent previously owned condition. No stains, tears, weird smells, etc. It has been carefully stored in a smoke-free, pet-free home. I retired not too long ago, and am finally getting around to doing a good Kondo-style cleanout, and frankly prefer to wear a comfortable bra these days to this one-shoulder style. Brand: George F Couture. Size on the label: 10, but vintage sizes are often smaller than today's. This dress fits smaller than a modern size 10. Please see exact measurements below for best fit guide. Fabric: 100% polyester. The shell is pleated polyester. The bodice is lined with a silky polyester. Hand wash cool. DO NOT dry clean (bad for the pleats.) MEASUREMENTS: these are the measurements of the actual garment, measured with the garment laying flat, i.e. double for bust, waist, hips. It is best to compare to a garment that fits you well of a similar fabric and style. Bust, armpit-to-armpit: 15 1/2" Bodice, center-top of shoulder to waist seam on the side: 21" (this is the longer side, opposite the zipper, as the waist seam is angled) Bodice, armpit side to waist seam: 7 1/2" (this is the shorter side, with the zipper, as the waist seam is angled. The 12" zipper itself extends to the hip area.) Waist: 13 1/2" Hips, measured straight across, about 8" down from the natural waist: 19+" (i.e unstretched) Sweep: 24+" (i.e. unstretched) Overall length: center-top of shoulder strap to hem: 55" (Again, there is a 3" hem with lettuce edging that the buyer light want to let down, but I leave that to the buyer.)
