Description: This late 1920's early 1930's Western Electric telephone is a real beauty. It's the round-base model, made only a couple years, and rather pristine. The body has its original paint. I removed the cradle, had it powder coated, installed new bushings and reassembled. The 4-conductor cord from the phone to the subset powering it is correct to the era in that its cover is tightly woven as opposed to the later ones with fatter threads. The coiled handset cord was originally from an operator's unit and would easily pass as original, except for the color of its internal cords (2 green ones). Western Electric modified a 2H dial by moving the finger stop to the inside. The outer rim of the dial has all the original embossing from the 1920's on it, which is a real plus. It is properly calibrated and oiled and works flawlessly. I completely disassembled the Bakelite E-1 handset, cleaned and sanitized it, then carefully sanded it in a multi-level process, finishing with a jeweler's rouge polish on my polisher. It's a real beauty. I disassembled the base plate, cleaned it up, and applied a new leather cover. The subset is very clean and handsome. Do note that one of my pictures points out a small tight hairline crack in one area - mentioned for accuracy of description. The sound clarity both ways is outstanding. Western Electric sure knew what they were doing back in the day. This handsome phone is truly plug-n-play right out of the box. Everything has been done for you. It works 100% on any traditional landline, as well as some VOIP and cable lines. It works 100% with a Rotatone unit and with the XLink BT paired to your cellphone. Check with your phone provider to ensure that they support rotary dialing.
